The Tools of Cronus

Hello Traveler,

this is my first Devlog for Cronus Trail. In this Devlog series i will talk about the content that is currently in the game, and how i developed these mechanics.

This game is a puzzle-platformer with random tools. Currently there are 20 different tools implemented, but i will speak about this later.  I created 7 Levels so far. The USP (Unique selling point) of this game is the random selection of 3 tools per run. Sure, there are other games that do this as well, the really unique thing is the combination of controllable and uncontrollable tools. During a run you have to deal with a combination of this tools. In each level you have two main puzzle keys: A spaceship that you can control and manipulate and the random tools.

First lets talk about the different tools. Currently only 20 tools are in the game but my goal is to release the game with at least double the amount. But if you're interested in the tools her are the explanations:

  1. The White Hole Gun: If you use if, it will create a white Hole which pushes any physical object away.
  2. The Sticky Bow: It shoots a sticky arrow which, surprise, surprise, will stick to objects and can be used as a platform
  3. The Fish: It is basically a remote platform. You can shoot him with the Use Button and rotate him with the Use button and collect him with the Interact Button.
  4. The Quick Save: Your position is saved and you will be teleported back after a few seconds
  5. The Physics Gun: It adds physics to most Objects.
  6. The Mutation Gun: It transforms the most Objects into a yellow box
  7. The Magnet: It pulls or pushes physical Objects
  8. The Interaction Gun: Shoots a projectile which interacts with Objects
  9. Grenade Launcher: It really explains itself.
  10. The Gravity Field Gun: Spawns a gravity field which inverts gravity
  11. The Gravity Switcher: It will make you either really light so you can float or really heavy for some time
  12. The Feather: You can jump height (for 1 second)
  13. The Platform Gun: This name isn't fitting because it doesn't spawn a platform. Its hard to describe, so you have to find out.
  14. The Damage Gun: It does damage
  15. Clone Gun: It clones most Objects in a "special way"
  16. Chain Gun: It spawns a chain
  17. The Stone Caller: Calls a stone from the sky
  18. The Bridge Gun: It spawns a Bridge
  19. The Black Hole Gun: It spawns a black hole which pulls any physical object towards it
  20. The Balloon Gun: It spawns a balloon which can be used as a platform for example

So that was the first Devlog. In my next one I will explain the different spaceships when i finished the next level.

Yours (oh wait I haven't thought about a developer tag, well there will be a next time)
